Frequently asked questions
Is Audiobook Studio free?
Every account gets one trial Studio project, including the free tier. Unlimited projects, subtitles, background music and project translation come with the Creator plan ($19 a month).
How long a book can I narrate?
Studio is designed for full-length manuscripts. Generation is billed per character, so plan credits by length: a Creator month (200,000 credits) covers a typical full-length novel on standard-rate voices.
Can different characters have different voices?
Yes. Assign any preset, cloned or designed voice to the narrator and to individual characters; the assignment holds across the whole project.
Can I translate the audiobook into other languages?
On Creator and above, a project can be translated into eight languages — English, Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Japanese and Korean — and re-narrated with the same voice setup.
Can I submit AI narration to Audible?
Not through ACX at the time of writing — it does not accept AI-narrated submissions from third-party tools. Other platforms and aggregators set their own rules; check before you produce. For retailers that do accept it, the Audiobook export preset targets the common technical spec and shows a measured report.
What do I get on export?
Whole-book or chapter files in WAV or MP3 with the Standard or Audiobook preset, subtitle files generated from the narration timeline, and, on Creator and above, an optional background-music mix with automatic ducking. Audiobook-preset exports include a distribution-checks report.
