The assumptions behind the numbers
- Six characters per word including spaces and punctuation — close for English prose; Chinese counts characters directly.
- Credits: standard-rate voices bill one credit per character; Leap Turbo half that; Leap Ultra 1.5 credits per UTF-8 byte, which is about 1.5 per English character and about 4.5 per Chinese character.
