Can You Use AI Voices Commercially?
Updated September 3, 2026
TL;DR: yes — on LeapFun, commercial usage rights are included on every paid plan from Starter ($6 a month) up. The Free plan is for personal and evaluation use. Cloned voices add a consent requirement; some platforms add a disclosure requirement. Details below; the binding text is the Terms of Use.
What "commercial use" covers
Any audio you monetise or use in a business context: monetised YouTube videos, sponsored posts, paid ads, podcasts with sponsors, audiobooks for sale, courses, client work, product demos, internal training. On LeapFun that is included from the Starter plan — you don't buy a separate license file; the rights come with the subscription for audio generated while it's active.
Plan by plan
| Plan | Commercial rights | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Free | No — personal and evaluation use | 3,000 credits on sign-up + 1,000 per active month; subtitles from Studio exports carry a short attribution line |
| Starter ($6/mo) | Yes | 40,000 credits, 1 cloned voice |
| Creator ($19/mo) | Yes | 200,000 credits, 10 cloned voices, unlimited Studio projects, translation |
| Pro ($59/mo) | Yes | 650,000 credits, 30 cloned voices |
| Team ($129/mo) | Yes, for the workspace | 1,800,000 shared credits, 3 seats |
Three things that are not covered by the plan
- Someone else's voice. Cloning requires the owner's consent, recorded at creation. A commercial plan does not turn an unauthorised clone into a licensed one.
- Platform disclosure rules. Some platforms and ad programs require labelling synthetic voices in sponsored or political content. That sits with you as the publisher.
- Prohibited uses. Impersonation, fraud, harassment and the other items in the acceptable-use policy stay prohibited on any plan.
Client work and agencies
If you produce audio for clients, your paid plan covers the generation and your commercial use; a Team plan adds shared credits and seats for a small studio. For a client's own cloned voice, get their consent in writing — it protects both of you and it's required at upload.
What happens if I cancel?
Audio generated while your paid plan was active keeps its commercial rights. New generations after you drop to Free are personal and evaluation use again.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use the free tier for a monetised YouTube channel?
No. Free-tier audio is for personal and evaluation use. Monetised channels are commercial use, which starts on Starter at $6 a month.
Do I need to credit LeapFun?
Not on paid plans. On the Free plan, Studio subtitle exports include a short attribution cue after the last line; the audio itself carries no watermark.
Are cloned voices covered by commercial rights?
Your own cloned voice, yes, on any paid plan. Another person's voice needs their consent, recorded when the clone is created, in addition to the plan.
Can I resell the audio files?
You can sell the works you make with them — audiobooks, courses, videos. Reselling raw generated voice as a voice product or building a competing voice service is not what the plan licenses; see the Terms of Use.
