Dividing each plan's monthly price by the minutes it states: Fish Audio Plus is about $0.075 a minute ($0.055 billed yearly) and Pro about $0.06. LeapFun on standard-rate voices is $0.15 a minute on Starter, about $0.095 on Creator and about $0.09 on Pro; Leap Ultra voices cost about half as much again, and Leap Turbo voices about half. So at the creator level Fish Audio is the cheaper minute, and this page would be dishonest if it said otherwise.
Where LeapFun is cheaper is the way in. Commercial rights start at $6 a month, against $15 for Fish Audio's first paid plan, and a channel publishing a few videos a month does not need more than 40 minutes.
Where each one is stronger
Fish Audio
- A documented API with pay-as-you-go billing and no monthly minimum.
- The largest voice library of any tool we compare, if you want a particular character or accent.
- The lowest price per minute at the Plus and Pro levels.
- Open model weights for teams that want to run or study the model.
LeapFun
- A Studio organised like a manuscript, so a late edit costs one paragraph rather than a chapter.
- Exports that are finished: loudness-mastered, with subtitle files and optional background music.
- One narrator across 130+ languages, and whole-project translation into 8.
- Consent recorded for every cloned voice, and commercial rights from the lowest paid plan.

- You want a specific community voice.

Frequently asked questions
Is LeapFun cheaper than Fish Audio?
Per minute, no. Fish Audio Plus works out to about $0.075 a minute against about $0.095 on LeapFun Creator with standard-rate voices. LeapFun's entry is cheaper: commercial rights start at $6 a month, while Fish Audio's first paid plan is $15.
Does LeapFun have an API like Fish Audio?
Yes. LeapFun has a REST API, plus an OpenAI-compatible speech endpoint, on every plan including Free; calls spend the same credits as the app. Fish Audio's pay-as-you-go API is cheaper per minute at volume, and LeapFun has no streaming endpoint or self-hosting, so Fish Audio is the better fit for high-volume or real-time products. See the developer docs.
Which has more languages, LeapFun or Fish Audio?
LeapFun's Leap Ultra voices read 130+ languages and Leap Pro's multilingual voices 100+. Fish Audio's documentation lists 83 languages for its S2.1 Pro model, and its home page says 30+.
Which is better for audiobooks, LeapFun or Fish Audio?
LeapFun is built around a chapter-based Studio with paragraph re-takes, pronunciation rules, mastered exports and subtitle files. Fish Audio lists a Story Studio product, but we could not confirm its features from public pages.
Can I use Fish Audio's free plan commercially?
No. Fish Audio's plan FAQ and terms limit the free plan to personal, non-commercial use. LeapFun's free tier is also personal and evaluation use only; commercial rights start at Starter.
When should I not choose LeapFun?
When you need streaming or self-hosting, video dubbing, the lowest price per minute at high volume, or a voice from a very large community library. Fish Audio or ElevenLabs will serve those better.
